REVIEW SNAPSHOT® of Riedell 195 Roller Skate boots by PowerReviews Express | Overall Rating 5 stars | Did Customers find this review helpful? | Yes Votes - 1 | No Votes - 0 | Individual Review | Customer Rating - 5 stars - Best boot Riedell makes! | Review Date 2010-09-21 - Helpfulvotes 1 - Unhelpfulvotes 0 - Verfied Buyer? Yes - | I've been a jam and speed skater since the mid 1980s. I've tried a number of boot styles/fits. The Grand Prix is by far my favorite. My foot is long, wide and flat. Most boots haven't supported the middle of my foot very well. They tend to rely on the plate a little too much. So on either side of the plates some start to lose shape after a couple hundred hours of use. The result is cramping in the "arch" of the foot and an overall lack of enjoyment while skating.- This is the second pair of Grand Prix boots I've owned. The first pair lasted me a good 8 years before I decided I wanted something shiny and new. When checking out other boots, nothing seemed to have equal feel or looks. Most of the new boots out there tend to be heavily padded or made out of materials that look bad after a couple of scuffs. So I happily went back to my favorites, the Grand Prix.
- One thing to keep in mind; Riedell recommends that you use their measuring stick to determine your size. Some will tell you to add a half size to what the stick measures you to be, but Riedell has been doing this a lot longer than most retailers - online or otherwise. I go with their measurements and always end up doing fine. In fact, the boots tend to be about 1/4 inch longer than they should be. So, if you go up a half size from the measurement, your going to have something 1/2 - 3/4 inches too long - depending on where the end of your toes actually end up. And of course, the snugger, the better.
