1. single vs double action:
in theory the double action gives you two cushions instead of one and
thus more adjustability. Its like adding extra shocks on your car so
you would be able to fine tune your ride better and have a larger range
of adjustment. In the past all 45 degree plates only came with a single
action trucks, thats why we developed the double action 45 (DA45)
truck. Now you have the sharper turning 45 degree angle with all the
adjustments of an double action truck.
2. the degree/angle of the truck, 10 vs 45
. Ten or 15 degree trucks have a smoother more controlled turning
effect and always had the double action cushions for more
adjustability. Became very popular in 1970s with the mass appeal of
recreational rollerskating. 45 degrees has a faster and sharper turning
effect with a much tighter turning radius. Keep in mind that roller
derby skaters have traditionally used a 45 because of its incredible
response.
3. short forward mount...going with the DA 45 it seems.
When you take our Invader or XK 4 plates and you add a DA45 truck on
them what you do is artificially increase the wheel base, so to insure
that you have a proper wheel base for you shoe size you down size on the
plate back to the appropriate wheel base, thus a smaller plate. Now
since you have a smaller plate you need to shove it forward off the heel
to position the front axle underneath the ball of the foot. Now that
being said some skaters have a personal need/want for the shortest
possible plate on their skates thinking that the smaller the wheel base
the tighter the turning. This is kind of the speed skating theory of
mounting. Just remember that when we send you an Invader DA45 plate
that seems short for the shoe you are mounting, that we are really
sending you a shorter plate that has the correct wheel base for your
shoe size.
