LOOSE BALL WHEELS RING IN THE RINK! There is a distinctive ring when you skate with loose ball bearings. These are OG wheels and bearings that were used in the decades before the closed precision bearings became available to roller skaters. Each wheel has a metal cup inserted, tiny balls are dropped into the cup and are held in place by the axle nut. Typically there is no oil because the bearing is open and the oil would fly out. Excess oil on the axle can cause the axle nut to loosen and the balls to fall out on the rink floor! The wheels are generally slippery and not for speed - this is a skate of style, OG STYLE!
