Pads don't work, unless you wear them. If they are too bulky, or too geeky looking, you might not use them; but these are cool looking and do not limit your mobility. I would order the large, because you can use the velcro straps to tighten them. And if they are still too big...do some pushups...heck, skaters are ripped...buff up.

Customer Rating - 2 stars - Comfortable but not very good protection
    Review Date 2010-06-16 - Helpfulvotes 0 - Unhelpfulvotes 0 - Verfied Buyer? Yes -
I gave them 2 stars only because they are very comfortable, these pads will protect you from the impact ONLY, you will still get your elbow scraped. For the price, you are better off with something else. These pads are very short, so they dont cover a large area surrounding the elbow, it will protect your elbow from the initial impact very well, but since the kevlar wont slide over the cement, in turn, the elbow pad will slide over your arm, leaving your elbow exposed to the concrete. It doesnt matter how tight they are to your elbow, they will still slide over your arm, and youll get scraped. This could be easily solved if they were a little bit longer, but they are not. I do not recommend these pads if you are using them for something else rather than fitness skating on smooth surfaces. Yesterday I was longboarding and I got my elbow severly scraped while I was wearing these, and it was a very small fall, they only protected me from the impact. Whats the point of wearing protection that wont protect you?

Customer Rating - 4 stars - Too small for me

I'm a 5'6" woman. I'm about average build. These pads were too small for me, too tight on my arms in a size medium. Since there was no sizing chart available, I had to guess. So order a large if you're a regular sized adult. If you are a toothpick with boney arms, or a child, the mediums might fit. I can't remember if they come in XL or XXL for the guys.......

These have done a decent job of protecting my 'bows in derby practice. They slide well on the track. I still plan on passing them on to my daughter and getting a plate-style pad.

Customer Rating - 4 stars - Good for preventing the burn...

Was going to use this for some easy going derby practice but after seeing them in person, I quickly realized that I couldnt use them in roller derby at all. They have some padding that will give a bit of cushion for a fall and will do very well at preventing skin from getting ripped up, but dont protect the joint enough for derby-like falls. So comfy though. I do like them for recreational skating, just not the hard stuff.

Customer Rating - 5 stars - snug but awesome

They fit snug so if in between sizes, size up. They are comfortable on the elbow and feel like they are good quality. The velcro straps are unnecessary and I may end up cutting them off.
