As other reviewers have stated, these wheels ARE soft and take some getting used to. I swapped out the ABEC-3 bearings for some better ones, which helped a bit there. One wheel was *almost* DOA... had to spin it hard to get any light out of it-- fortunately, I bought a set of 8, so placing it as an inner wheel was no problem. Haven't yet looked into fixing it, but I suspect it's not a huge deal-- but for the price, the wheels are great for show, or for just showing off.

If you tighten the wheels too much or too little the lights don't work well. They slow you down for sure, but that's sometimes effective depending on surface. Lights are pretty cool looking. It's hard to skate and not watch your feet :)

The wheels did not light up consistently. One was very bright and another barely lit up. The wheels were also very narrow, so it wasn't suited well for derby applications. Kind of cool, but wish they worked better.

Love the light up wheels, everyone on the team wants a pair. As other reviews have said there is usually one defective wheel in the bunch that just refuse to light up when u want it to. They are fun but for derby application not terrific. My T-stops and snow plows are hindered a bit. Other than that they are what they are, fun wheels to play with.

Replaced my daughter's Broadway wheels with the Firefly wheels. I can quickly spot her skating techniques on the fly in a crowd. Unfortunately, the housing for the bearings are slightly wider than the original wheels and that made the axle threads a little to short for the orginial lock nut to fully crimp the threaded axle ends. A wheel came loose and she lost one of the plastic generators. We are finding it difficult to locate replacement generators. Does anyone know where we might be able to purchase these generators???

All my wheels work! The ABEC 3 Bearings ARE SO SLOW. I traded mine out for faster ones. I use these when I take my kids skating because they think they're fun and they can always find me! The wheels light up Red and Yellow... The picture is a little misleading. But still fun wheels!
