Pop stars get Kiwi roller skates
Nov 22, 2007 7:45 AM
International pop stars were given New Zealand-designed off road roller skates at the recent European MTV music awards.
Event organisers asked Hamilton company Skorpion Sports to provide skates in goodie bags for the performers.
Managing director Gary Reid says Snoop Dogg, the Foo fighters, Avril Lavigne and Timbaland are some of the artists who received the skates.
He says the organisers became interested after hearing of a new line of skates being created for Italian fashion house Armani.
Reid says the skates are becoming quite a trend and people like being able to take the skates off road. He says they are designed to handle all sorts of surfaces and it all depends how adventurous you want to be.
Reid says that skates will be sold worldwide and expects the Armani version of the skates to sell well.
