Havent been skating since 1991, back in the day i went all the time. Im 36 now and got the itch to start going again, bought a pair of R3's so far so good. Boots are taking their time breaking it but they will, I am going to up grade the wheels and bearings, need something a little more smoother. But for a 100bucks these skates are great.

Ridell R3 - Entry Jam and Speed Skate

These are great skates for the person who is looking to return from a long break in skating, or anyone looking to try speed or jam skating. BOOT: The Riedell R3 boot is very comfortable. It offers great ankle support for a low cut, and excellent comfort. WHEELS: The Radar Caymans offer good grip on coated rink floors and roll butter smooth. They spec them at 95A for hardness. I would almost say they feel feel like a 94A. The grooves tend to pick up a lot of dirt and debris if the floor isn't cleaned properly. T-stops (dragging your skate to stop) will cause flat spots a lot quicker that wheels rated with the same hardness. PLATE: Powerdyne makes a great entry level plate. They are easy to adjust, and feel great with loose or stiff truck settings. If you are looking to do some serious competition, then obviously this plate isn't for you. I have found that the plate will warp slightly after doing a lot of jam, and toe movements. However, this is to be expected.

I started out with the scorpions and then went and bought these skates and what a difference... The boots are comfortable and they give the right support. The wheels are different than what i expected. They look good and they track like on a rail. If you are returning to the rink like I am after 46 years start with these and you wont be anything but happy. Great skates!!!!

R3's = Great for the Price

I am old school! I have been a quad skater since I was 6 (yeah , those first steel skates with steel wheels). I am 46 now and trying to get back in shape and feel younger and enjoy the great feeling of zoooming by on a pair of skates.... Used the R3, 3 times now, very nice boots, confortable, great wheels (yeah, better than the old field hockey ones, not to mention the racing WOOD wheels...) , I had a blast.... !!!! Cannot expect a better product for the buck, great for the recreational skater... I am just upgrading the weels and the bearings to go even faster as the ABEC 5's are a little slow once they get dirty, apart from that I am very satisfied with the product. If you are looking to get a first pair of quad skates or getting back to quad skates take these, they are great..... A+++.

Couldn't ask for a better pair for the price. They're smooth and don't slip much. The boot is comfortable too.All around they're a great pair of skates.
