While I skated growing up casually, my kids have taken up skating and we are now going every week for an hour and a half. The rental skates were a mess, and often very heavy and uncomfortable, so I have been looking for skates that I can use which are primarily comfortable, since I would never be doing spins or advanced moves. I was nervous about them not having a toe pick, but found that not to be a problem. These were also very lightweight. I did find that while I usually wear a size 81/2 - 9 shoe, the size 9 skate pressed against my toes, and left no room for insoles, so you should definitely order a size larger. Unfortunately, the way the buckle attached, it was right at my ankle bone, and pinched painfully so. I could not figure out any way to make this loose enough where it would not hurt. After 30 minutes in the skates I had to take them off. I'll be returning these.
