Dog skater June 26, 2009

No one could be harder on skates than me, being very overweight.  I skate every night, rain or shine, pulled by or pulling my black lab.  The dog doesn't always choose the safest path, so I cross over the roughest of manhole covers, broken sidewalks and rough asphalt.  
  There is no road vibration that I experience with wider wheels, and instead of getting stopped by pebbles, the narrower wheels kick the pebbles out to the side.  There was really no break in  period.  Either I have tough feet, or the skates just fit great.  There was a break in period for the dog though.  The skates are much faster than my old skates, so
I am traveling further and faster, so I had to work the dog up to the longer, nightly trip.  I was worried about the torque on the narrower wheels, being so heavy, and turning so sharply whenever the dog stopped to snif; but these skates are a
workhorse. Only thing that stops me are all the curious onlookers asking where I got my skates.

Very pleased with Quadlines..... April 14, 2007

Been out 3 times. Soooo much easier than rollerblades! Skated with quad skates 30+ years ago - outdoors on blacktop/sidewalks (no rink). Tried inlines but too unsteady. Took the leap and bought quadlines - added back brake and toe stops - using back brake on inclines but haven't tried toe stops (other than getting up/down). Took one tumble - gear on so OK. Getting better at turning and going faster on blacktop bike trail. Skates are smooth and handle well. Ordered down one size as recommended - perfect fit. Boot is very comfortable. Worth the extra $ for leather. Jim bought the Carrera speed boot without the heal and had to send his back for a larger size - they were too small. The turnaround time was very quick - mailed return Monday, ordered larger size - arrived Thursday. He'll take longer to feel comfortable as he doesn't have a history of skating and is taking it slow, has only been on his once. In the meantime....have 15-20 pounds to lose this summer!

My Artistic Quadlines with ceramic bearings arrived in early June. I experienced a longer than expected adjustment period that I attribute to the sensitivity of the ceramic bearings.

But, Boy when I finally caught on I was blown away. The local bike, skate path is rather poorly maintained and the surface is marked with bumps depressions and many slipshod repairs.

The Quadlines really rock at rolling over such surfaces. I've been able to skate flat out with little worry of being tripped up by the local tank traps.

I refer to the Quadlines as my 4-wheel drive Monster Truck skates, except; they are considerably more maneuverable than my quad rink skates.

I am sixty-three and I just recently returned to skating after 40 years. I must say I am having the time of my life on the Quadlines.
