Eclipse Blades must be custom sharpened to skaters' desired radius of hollow prior to use.

The 'Radius of Hollow’ refers to the depth of the contoured groove running down the length of the skate blade. A deeper hollow makes the blade less likely to slide sideways, provides for more secure edges, and allows for sharper turns and quicker change of direction. There is more to it than that, however. It also makes the blade dedicated to its set direction, thus harder to control and more likely to grab or catch an edge. A deeper hollow cuts more deeply into the ice , creating additional drag and making the blade slower. The more shallow the hollow, the easier the skater’s glide on the ice, enabling the skater to skate faster and exert less energy On the other hand a shallower hollow may not give enough edge control for quick turns and stops.
